“Here at Cox Urban Furniture, that’s our Mantra – And the result?

Exceptional street furniture that’s beautiful, functional, and meaningful.”

Mark Cox – Principal, Cox Urban Furniture

EXPLORE

Whether we’re designing street furniture for inclusion in our catalogue, or focusing our expertise on a custom furniture brief, we thoroughly explore collective needs, in order to craft solutions that accommodate our diverse community. Questions we consider include…

Sketch

Who will use this street furniture, and for what length of time?

What Environmental factors need to be considered?

How can we provide Universal Access?

Where can we utilise recycled materials?

What forms are appropriate for its function?

Who will maintain this and how easily can it be done?

How will this furniture feel, both physically and emotionally?

CREATE

Inspired and guided by our discoveries, we generate concepts, then develop and refine them, producing models and prototypes along the way to check ergonomics, strength and aesthetics. With integrity in every step of the process, our goal is the creation of street furniture solutions of which we can be proud.

CONNECT

Connecting with each other is the key to building and maintaining a sense of community. The easier and more inviting it is for people to connect, the more likely it is to occur, and we believe street furniture can, and should, facilitate this.

Good urban planning, architecture, landscape architecture and streetscape design plays a pivotal role in this process, and hard landscape features such as furniture provide an interface between people, the space, and each other. For example, sensitively designed and positioned seating provides opportunities to stop and rest awhile, to contemplate the natural and built environment, or simply enjoy the very human pleasure of people watching. As a result, opportunities arise for conversation and interaction between strangers, reinforcing the sense of belonging, even if alone.

At Cox Urban Furniture we strive to connect our street furniture solutions to the environment, helping our clients to enhance people’s relationship with the space, and each other. We create designs that are versatile, offering different stylistic and material options, and flexibility in both dimensions and configuration.

Over the past 25 years, our furniture has been selected for thousands of successful projects across Australia. Featured below, and also in the CUSTOM section of our website, are just a few for you to explore. Whatever the nature of your project, and whether its Catalogue or Custom Furniture you need, we’re always ready to listen and respond to your individual requirements.
